December 1, 2019 – A Tale of Two Dancers Bazaar and Stage Ready Workshops

Location: Shenkman Arts Centre – Ottawa Citizen Dance Studio,  245 Centrum Blvd, Orléans, ON K1E 0A1
Time: 10:30am – 3:00pm

Angelina Thorne and Erika (Eurika Dance) are conspiring again to grow and reconnect dance communities from all over Ontario. They will be hosting a community bazaar along with mini workshops to help you get Stage Ready for performances.

Community Bazaar – Do you have costumes and accessories you don’t use anymore or perhaps have never used and you’re looking for a new home? Bring your goodies to the community bazaar and trade and/or sell your stuff to other dancers. – All Tables are now full!  We have a great selection of tables from Ottawa-Gatineau, Trenton/Belleville and Kingston Dancers!

Stage Ready Workshops

A Tale of Two Dance Closets

Time: 11:00am – 12:00pm

Angelina and Erika will discuss the main style differences for the costumes from Folklore to Oriental styles through the use of actual costumes they own and/or through photos.  They will also discuss general care and maintenance of costumes.

Have a costume you’re questioning what style it is and/or if it suits your body type?  Bring it along to the workshop and we’ll be happy to help in anyway we can.

A Tale of Two… Eyes! with Angelina Thorne

Time: 1:00pm – 2:00pm

Bring your makeup and paint along with Angelina as we create 2 looks in one hour! On one side, we will build a universal “Smoky Cat Eye”, good for creating that deep dark drama and highlighting your features under bright lights. One the other side, we will build a “Showgirl Eye” – a romantic look that combines sparkle and sass. On both sides, we will also highlight the importance of beefing up our brows, and learn a few theatre tricks for helping your peepers really pop!

  • -Eye Makeup Primer (Super necessary for stage makeup – you will be glad you got some if you don’t already have it!)
  •  Black Eyeliner & Black Eyeshadow (or your darkest colours)
  • EITHER: A brow pencil, brow shadow, and/or brow gel in a dark colour (darker than you’d wear normally).
  •  Black or very dark Mascara (and an eyelash curler if you’d like to use one)
  • White/Pearly eyeshadow for highlighting
  • Feature Eyeshadow Colour (something bright or glittery/sparkly for contrast – you can bring a multi-colour palette!)
  • Makeup brushes (an angled edge for brows if using brow powder or pencil, two eyeshadow brushes – one for black and one for colour), and makeup remover!
  •  Notebook to write down all these handy tips!

  • Fake eyelashes (I’ll share how to get them on without losing your will to live)
  • GLITTER! (please make sure it’s cosmetic glitter, not craft glitter!)
  • Gold metallic eyeshadow (there are extra places to highlight, if you like!)
  • A red lip liner (this one might surprise you)
  • A white eyeliner
  • Makeup sealer (if you’d like to walk around with 2 different eyes on all day)
